Residential paving questions
How long does it take to pave a driveway?
Most residential driveways are completed in one to two days, depending on the size, how much excavation is needed and the weather. We’ll give you a timeline with your estimate.
Should I resurface or replace my driveway?
If the base underneath is still solid and the damage is mostly on the surface, a resurfacing overlay can be a cost-effective refresh. If you see widespread cracking, sinking or potholes, the base has likely failed and a full replacement will last much longer. We’ll tell you honestly which one you need.
Why choose asphalt for a driveway?
Asphalt usually costs less to install than concrete, handles New Jersey’s freeze-thaw winters well, is ready to use quickly and is easy to repair or resurface down the road.
When can I drive on my new driveway?
In most cases you can walk on it the next day and drive on it after 2 to 3 days. In hot weather, give it a little longer and avoid parking in the same spot or turning your wheels while stopped for the first few weeks.
Do I need to be home during the work?
No. As long as we can access the driveway and the cars are moved out, you don’t need to be home. We’ll walk the finished driveway with you or send photos when we’re done.
How do I care for my new driveway?
Keep heavy trucks and equipment off it for the first few weeks, clean up oil or gas spills promptly, and plan on seal coating about 6 to 12 months after paving and every 2 to 3 years after that.
