FAQs

Driveway paving FAQs

How long does it take to pave a driveway?

Most residential driveways are completed in one to two days, depending on the size, how much excavation and base work is needed, and the weather. We’ll give you a timeline with your estimate so you can plan around it.

How much does a new asphalt driveway cost?

Driveway paving cost depends on the size and shape of the driveway, whether the old surface needs to be removed, how much base and grading work is needed, and drainage. Resurfacing a sound driveway costs less than a full replacement. We provide free on-site estimates with a clear, written price so there are no surprises.

Should I resurface or replace my driveway?

If the base underneath is still solid and the damage is mostly on the surface, a resurfacing overlay can be a cost-effective refresh. If you see widespread cracking, sinking, potholes or standing water, the base has likely failed and a full replacement will last much longer. We’ll tell you honestly which one you need.

Why choose asphalt for a driveway in New Jersey?

Asphalt usually costs less to install than concrete, flexes through New Jersey’s freeze-thaw winters instead of cracking, resists road salt better, is ready to use in days, and is easy to repair, resurface and seal coat down the road.

When can I drive on my new driveway?

In most cases you can walk on it the next day and drive on it after 2 to 3 days. In hot weather, give it a little longer, avoid parking in the same spot or turning your wheels while stopped, and keep heavy trucks off it for the first few weeks.

Do I need to be home during the work?

No. As long as we can access the driveway and the cars are moved out, you don’t need to be home. We’ll walk the finished driveway with you or send photos when we’re done.

How do I care for my new asphalt driveway?

Keep heavy trucks and equipment off it for the first few weeks, clean up oil or gas spills promptly, fill cracks as soon as they appear, and plan on seal coating about 6 to 12 months after paving and every 2 to 3 years after that.
